Perry is the Houston County seat and the home of the Georgia National Fair. Stewart Septic Services keeps septic systems working for homes, farms and businesses in and around town.
Perry was founded in 1823 as Wattsville and renamed for Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the naval hero of the War of 1812, before the General Assembly incorporated it in 1824. It has been the seat of Houston County ever since, and its place on I-75, U.S. 41 and U.S. 341 has made it a stop for travelers for about a century. Every October, the Georgia National Fair fills the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter. Stewart Septic Services works throughout Perry from our base in Macon.
Much of Perry is on city sewer, but step past the city limits and septic takes over. Farmhouses, homes on several acres off the county roads and newer houses on large rural lots across southern Houston County depend on tanks and drain fields. Some of those systems are decades old and have never had more than an occasional pump-out. A septic maintenance plan keeps pumping on a schedule so small problems get caught early.
Perry's economy leans on agriculture, manufacturing and the visitors who come for big events, so we see plenty of commercial work here. We pump grease traps for restaurants, service holding tanks and lift stations, and provide portable toilet rentals for construction sites, farm work and outdoor gatherings. For new homes going up outside the sewer lines, we install complete systems as a company listed by the Georgia Department of Public Health as a certified septic tank installer.
Big Indian Creek runs through the Perry area on its way to the Ocmulgee River, and low ground near creeks can stay wet long after a summer downpour. A saturated drain field can't absorb wastewater, which shows up as slow drains and odors in the yard. Roots from mature trees are another common culprit. Our drain field repair work addresses both.
Since 1994, Stewart Septic Services has been owned and run by the Stewart family, and much of our work still comes from people who heard about us from a neighbor. We're BBB Accredited with an A+ rating and hold a 4.8-star rating on Google. We'll tell you straight what your system needs — one customer who expected a pump-out learned the real problem was just a faulty float. "My neighbor recommended their service and it was a great experience. Every employee I dealt with was knowledgeable, professional, and kind. I thought my tank needed to be cleaned but they told me the problem was only a faulty float valve. They could have taken advantage of the opportunity to do un-necessary work but didn’t."
